Our First Mission Takes Flight

Reason-1 before launch.
On Thursday, October 1, 2026, Reason-1, our first mission, launched into low Earth orbit aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 on the Transporter-18 rideshare mission. For the first time, Cowboy Space hardware is in space.
The launch marks a huge milestone for our company and the people who made it possible. Years of design, engineering, testing, and preparation have brought us to this moment: our first satellite is in orbit.
A Mission Years in the Making
This mission began with an idea at Aetherflux: capture the sun’s energy in space and send it where it is needed on Earth. That work continues as Cowboy Space, with an even bigger mission ahead.
We’re building the systems needed for orbital infrastructure, including space-based power, optical communications, launch vehicles, and data centers in orbit. Reason-1 carries our laser, large-aperture optics, beam-steering systems, and power and thermal architecture. The mission is designed to test power beaming from orbit to Earth, and the lessons it delivers will help shape the technology we build next.

Built by Cowboys
Reason-1 is the result of an enormous effort by our team. Our engineers designed, built, tested, and shipped our first satellite while taking on a new technical challenge for commercial spaceflight. Behind every component are long days, hard problems, and people determined to get it right.
We’re proud of the people who made this mission possible. Getting our first hardware into space is a moment worth celebrating—and an important step toward the infrastructure we’re building above Earth.
